Aim

To host a cultural exchange between Norwich and El Viejo, Nicaragua

To host an evening of local music, dance and spoken word by local performers in Norwich and El Viejo, linked live, between Norwich and El Viejo.

For people to experience each other's culture and to enhance human connection between people in the twinning communities Norwich and El Viejo.

To create a position for a local young person/local young people to help curate, produce and host this event.

Why

Norwich has been twinned with El Viejo, in Nicaragua for thirty years. The current focus for the Nicaragua twinning committee is to support the local schools.

This event is intended to enhance this work through:

promoting the link, promoting the local arts of Norwich and El Viejo, raising awareness in Norwich of the work by the twinning committee, raising additional funds towards the committee’s work in El Viejo

When & Where

March 28th at Silver Road Community Centre 6 - 11pm Live between 7 & 9pm

Timeline

December

Soft Launch on December 5th to call out to artists who want to get involved at Millienium Library, Norwich, with the Lord Mayor of Norwich in attendance.

January - March
Exchanges between artists in both cities.
Volunteers and work placements fulfilled.
An online children's picture and story book completed between children in the two cities.

Produced by Slow Theatre Company, in partnership with Norwich El Viejo Friendship Link, Norfolk Youth Project, BBC Voices, El Viejo City Council, and volunteers from the Community.
